Something’s brewing!
Hallein and beer – it’s a long and varied love story. Hallein was already a brewing stronghold in the early modern period. In the 18th century, there were no fewer than eleven licensed breweries in the Hallein area. Today, the Hofbräu Kaltenhausen, founded in 1475, still reminds us of this heyday of brewing.
Recently, many new, young beers have joined the fray. On the “Hopfen und Malz” (Hops and Malt) tour, we visit Hallein’s restaurants and taste beers together with a beer sommelier. The tour is garnished with stories and anecdotes about Hallein and the golden barley juice.
