Hike to the Gutrat Ruin

Where the Guardians of the salt lived

This is how one imagines the life of Ronja the Robber’s Daughter: A castle high up on a rock above the valley, deep forest all around and nothing but the silence of nature. However, the castle was not built as a robbery castle at all, but for the so-called “Gueträter”: noblemen who were considered guardians of the salt at the Gutratsberg at the beginning of the 13th century.

The eventful hike to the castle ruins Gutrat is generally easy to walk and only in the last part a little more difficult, because the ruin is located on a rock. However, steel ropes and a metal grid allow for a problem-free ascent. For people with a fear of heights, however, it could still be a challenge.
