Salines bike path

Salines from start to finish

Salt, brine, salt works: To historic extraction sites of the “white gold,” along its trade routes, past brine pipelines and through saline towns – on the 130 km Saline Cycle Path, you’ll find traces of salt everywhere. The destination of the trail, which starts in Rosenheim, Bavaria, is Hallein.

From the Salingarten in Rosenheim, the route takes you over hilly terrain toward Lake Chiemsee. Along the Chiemgau Alps, the bike path winds its way via Traunstein to the Bad Reichenhall salt works. If you then continue cycling in the direction of Berchtesgaden, a visit to the salt mine is worthwhile. Continue on to Marktschellenberg and finally to Hallein. You guessed it or you already know it, the history of salt is omnipresent there as well.
