Cinematic delights in Hallein
The cinema theatre in Hallein opened in 1925, and in 1931 the first sound film was screened at the Stadtkino Hallein. Today, the cinema looks back on almost 100 years of history and is a cultural landmark in Hallein.
After turbulent years and the threat of decay, the Stadtkino Hallein cinema has been shining in new splendour since its redesign in 1993. The redesign was based on plans by architect Heinz Tesar and since then has been enjoyed by visitors thanks to its spacious glass front and the magnificent city terrace above the foyer. The two cinema auditoriums, with 347 and 52 seats respectively, offer a diverse cinema programme ranging from cultural films and the latest blockbusters to children’s films. For discerning cineastes, there is the ‘Stadtkino Hallein Filmclub’ every Tuesday, which focuses on arthouse films and alternative genres. Film enjoyment for everyone at the Stadtkino Hallein.
