Ostblockherz – Didi Drobna presents her new novel

Between the Eastern Bloc and the West, patriarchy and a new beginning: Didi hasn’t spoken to her father in years. Suddenly, he gets in touch. She interprets for him in hospital, as he speaks hardly any German and she hardly any Slovak. During this time, they get to know each other anew and learn more about each other than ever before: about pride and failures, migration and hope, anger and forgiveness. A quiet rapprochement and the question of what connects them despite everything: their Eastern Bloc heart.
Didi Drobna, born in Bratislava in 1988, has lived in Vienna since 1991. She studied communication science, German language and literature, and linguistics; her work has received numerous awards.
