Hallein was already a brewing stronghold in the early modern period. In the 18th century, there were no fewer than eleven licensed breweries in the Hallein area. Today, the Hofbr\u00e4u Kaltenhausen, founded in 1475, still reminds us of this heyday of brewing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Recently, many new, young beers have joined the fray. On the \u201cHopfen und Malz\u201d (Hops and Malt) tour, we visit Hallein&#8217;s restaurants and taste beers together with a beer sommelier.
